“Political-techno blog Puffbox comments on the curious story of the prime minister of Kazakhstan who has ‘ordered’ his Cabinet colleagues to blog:
"I have opened a blog on the government website," Masimov told a government meeting. "So I order all ministers… to start personal blogs where people will be able to ask you questions that you must answer."
Apparently, he started his own blog last week, received 152 comments on the first post and as a result ordered investigations into criticisms of tap water in villages.
In principle, the idea is sound but as pointed out, you can’t order a person to blog. It could be argued that it wouldn’t hurt for the incumbents of the Houses of Parliament to be more tech-savvy but I cannot envisage Brown sitting at the head of the Cabinet and ordering Darling to blog.
Blogs are a useful social, and political, tool but if politicians concerns’ seem disingenious then it would only work to further alienate the electorate.”
